Winter or Summer? Vail has enough activities to keep you busy all day and night!
Vail has many popular summer, winter and year round activities enjoyed by both visitors and locals alike.
Just because Vail has a world reputation for one of the best, if not the best ski resorts in American, it doesn’t mean that skiing is the ONLY thing alive and well in Vail. With so many popular activities in Vail, it helps to divide up what you can do by the season:
· Summer
· Winter
· All Seasons
Here’s an idea of the different activities you can do in Vail:
Summer Activities
Although Vail has a shorter summer season than many summer vacation destinations (very late June to September), the pure grandness of the scenery and mountains around make up for it. When you consider that 80% of Eagle County is public land, the fact that people come to Vail to get out into the open is no surprise! Favorite summer activities include:
· Biking (road and mountain)
· Paragliding/Hang-gliding
· Whitewater fun (kayaking, canoeing, and rafting)
· Golf
· Fly fishing
· Scenic driving Tours
· Mountain Climbing
Winter Activities
With 300 inches of snow falling annually, is it any wonder that Vail is a wonderland for winter sports lovers? Favorite winter activities include:
· Skiing (do we even have to mention this?)
· Snowboarding
· Cross country skiing
· Sleigh rides
· Snowmobiling
· Ice Climbing
All Seasons Activities
Just when you thought that Vail couldn’t possibly have any more to offer, consider the following activities suited for all seasons:
· Hot-air Balloon Rides
· Hiking
· Horseback Riding
